CI-GEF Environmental and Social Safeguards consist of policies, standards and preventive procedures designed to avoid, minimize or mitigate adverse impacts of conservation projects on people and nature. These safeguard policies are applied throughout the project lifecycle. The Environmental and Social Policy, Gender Mainstreaming Policy and Stakeholder Engagement Policy provide the framework for responsible project implementation and guide risk and impact management.
