About
Restaura Biomas supports Brasil’s commitments to ecosystem restoration by creating the enabling conditions needed to advance large-scale restoration across all six biomes. The initiative directly supports actions aligned with PROVEG (National Policy for Native Vegetation Recovery) and its implementation framework, PLANAVEG (National Plan for Native Vegetation Recovery).
Through these efforts, the project contributes to native vegetation recovery while promoting sustainable production practices. In addition to advancing restoration, the project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support farmers and local communities throughout Brasil. Restaura Biomas operates through three core areas of action:
Public policies and coordination
Strengthen and align policies, programs, and monitoring systems to enable restoration at scale.
Engagement and implementation
Mobilize government, the private sector, and local networks, expanding capacities and restoration projects across territories.
Financing
Unlock and create financial mechanisms (such as credit, PES, and carbon) to sustain restoration in the long term.
